According to a September survey by the National Council for Behavioral Health, 52% of behavioral health organizations reported seeing an increase in the demand for their services between 17 August and 1 September 2020. One regional payer noted that for commercial members with substance use disorders, total health care costs are three to five times higher than the general population.
During the pandemic, telehealth and virtual care have become essential to supporting members with mental and behavioral healthcare needs, and COVID-19 will continue to shape the behavioral health industry in 2021 and beyond. With an overwhelming surge in demand for services, limited provider networks and new regulatory complexities (like the Mental Health Parity & Addiction Equality Act), health payers must evolve their strategies to control costs while finding new ways to deliver accessible care for high-risk members.
So, how can we shift our approach to manage the increase in demand and limited provider availability? How can we support our members in getting access to appropriate care? And what role has technology played in facilitating better strategies and more effective collaboration?
Join Cadalys and a select group of senior thought-leading peers to share experience and best practice in behavioral health, to discuss strategies for integrating patient data across the care continuum, and to explore how to break down silos and gaps in availability.
